Oral history projects preserve part of an individual’s life history - as viewed through that person’s eyes, experiences and memories.
Think about an adult or senior (this can be a family member, neighbor, teacher, etc.) that you would like to know more about.
Find out about this person’s childhood and the person/people who had the greatest impact on his/her life.
Assignment
1. Choose a person that you know personally that would like to learn more about and tell me in a five sentence paragraph why you chose that person. Leave your answer in the comment box.
2. Arrange to interview that person and find out more about him or her.
Here are some questions to help you get started. You may include other questions as well.
- Where were you born and when? What was your family like growing up?
- What are some major events that took place during your lifetime? How did they affect you?
- Who was your closest friend growing up? Did you remain friends with that person into adulthood?
- Who is/are the person/ people who made the biggest impact on your life? Why? How did you change as a result of the person/people?
- Do you remember someone saying something to you that had a significant impact on how you lived your life? What was it?
- What were the most difficult choices you ever had to make? Do you think you made the right decisions? Would you go back and do anything differently?
3. Create a biography cube so that each of the six sides summarizes an aspect of the person’s life and summarizes the answers to each of the six questions above. Use graphics and text to make your cube.
Hint
Your cube will have graphics and writing on each side. One set of questions will go on one side of the biography cube.
Due Dates:
1. The paragraph is due April 28, 2008
2. The answer to the interview questions are due Friday, May 2, 2008 .
3. The Biography Cube is due Wed May 7, 2008 at the end of class.

1. Use light weight construction paper to create your cube.
2. I will provide you with a pattern you can use for your cube when it comes time to make it.
